District 26 participates in Illinois public retirement systems that provide long-term financial security for eligible employees.
Certified staff participate in the Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS), while eligible support staff are enrolled in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). Both systems provide retirement, disability, and survivor benefits.
Teachers’ Retirement System
The Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS), established in 1939, provides retirement, disability, and survivor benefits for educators working in Illinois public schools outside of Chicago.
Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund
The Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) provides retirement, disability, and survivor benefits for eligible non-certified employees of local governments and school districts.
