Face Covering Requirements for Schools

As required by the Governor of Illinois order, masks are required to be worn at all times in school buildings, regardless of vaccination status, except while eating. All individuals in a school building must wear a mask unless they have a medical contraindication. Face coverings are generally not required outside.

District 26 will follow CDC Guide to Masks : CDC Guide to Masks Link

● Masks should have two or more layers of washable, breathable fabric
● Masks should completely cover your nose and mouth
● Masks should fit snugly against the sides of your face and should not have gaps
● Masks should be washed regularly

District 26 will not allow the following face coverings:
● Masks that have exhalation valves or vents
● Bandanas
● Gaiters (Evaluation of these face covers is on-going but effectiveness is unknown at this time per the CDC).

Students who refuse to wear face coverings may be subject to disciplinary consequences consistent with the Student Code of Conduct and Board Policy 7:190, Student Behavior.
