Cary Junior High News

Welcome to Cary Junior High

  • Cary Junior High was established in 1969. Servicing around 900 students in 6th to 8th grade, the school is highly supported by the Cary community. Year after year, the school is recognized for its academic achievements throughout McHenry County and collar county districts based on standardized testing results. We are proud of our students’ commitment to academics.
Cary Junior High offers 60 minute core classes in math, English language arts, science, and social sciences. Students are exposed to a physical education/wellness class on a daily basis throughout their junior high experience. Starting in the 2018-2019 school year, 6th grade students will all be given 1 trimester of Spanish as well as 6 weeks of the other 4 “Specials” classes which are: art, drama, music, and STEM.  7th and 8th grade students starting in the 2018-2019 school year will all take 1 trimester of Spanish and then be given the opportunity to rank their preferences for which other two specials they would like to take.   Cary Junior High is also proud to offer band at all grade levels. Cary Junior High offers leveled math and language arts classes, as well as a gifted program where students are placed based on academic achievement. A wide variety of athletic, academic, and extra-curricular activities are available for students to further expand their interests and knowledge. Cary Junior High students will attend Cary-Grove High School.
