School Closing Notification and Instant Alert

When it is necessary to cancel school due to snow or extreme cold, parents will be notified via the district Instant Alert System. The district has transitioned to an instant alert system that syncs directly with the district’s Infinite Campus Student Information System. This will allow parents to maintain current contact information using one system. The new instant alert system, Schoolwires, will pull contact numbers and emails directly from the Infinite Campus System, allowing parents to update their contact information at any time. We hope this will improve the District’s ability in utilizing the most current contact information provided by parents.

The local radio and TV stations will also be notified as soon as the decision to cancel has been made. The notification will be broadcast between 6:00-7:00 am on WGN 720 AM, WBBM 780 AM, WAIT 850 AM, WZSR 105.5 FM, WZZN 94.7 FM and most major TV stations, including:  Channel 2 (CBS), Channel 5 (NBC), Channel 7 (ABC), Channel 9 (WGN), Channel 32 (FOX), and Cable Channel CLTV.
