Registration

• All Kindergarten and New Students are required to provide registration documents.
  
  In order to be eligible to register, you MUST provide the required documents outlined below at the time of registration to verify residency.
  If ALL documents are not provided, your child(ren) will not be enrolled in District 26. 
   

  • Original Birth Certificate - NEW STUDENTS ONLY 
    This is the only record that will be accepted to verify a student’s date of birth. A hospital record will not be accepted. 

  ONE document from Category I AND TWO documents from Category II

  Category I (ONE document required)

  Homeowners:

  • Most recent property tax bill
  • Mortgage papers
  • Real Estate Closing Documents (closing within the last 60 days)

  Renters:

  • Signed and dated lease with property owners' phone # listed
  • If lease is not available, a required Affidavit form "Letter of Residence from Property Owner in Lieu of Lease" must be signed, dated and NOTARIZED from property owner
    
    AND
     

  Category II (TWO documents required):

  • Driver's License or Vehicle Registration
  • Mail received at new residence (credit card bill, car insurance, etc.)  GENERIC MAILINGS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
  • Voter registration 
  • Current public aid card
  • Most recent gas, electric, cable television and/or water bill
  • Current homeowners/renters insurance policy/premium statement

Please see school health exam requirements in the table below, specified by grade.

State law for all Illinois school children mandates submission of these forms. Please schedule appointments early and utilize the required forms. Additional health examinations may be required when deemed necessary by school authorities. If you have questions about these requirements, please contact the school nurse at your student’s school building. More specific information about the required immunizations is on this Illinois Department of Public Health web page.

Required Exclusion (Section 27-8.1 of the School Code): Students in grades requiring submission of the Certificate of Child Health Examination Form are required by law to be excluded from school if the Form, or a Religious or Medical Exemption, is not received by October 15th of the current school year.

3. Mail forms via USPS to “Building Nurse” at your school’s address.

Medication Administration
Medication shall be administered only when absolutely necessary to maintain the continued attendance of the student.  The Authorization for Administration of Medication at School form requires a doctor’s signature and a parent’s signature before medication can be brought to school.

Registration & student Health Forms

• Registration Fees are assigned on a per student basis. Fee amounts vary based on the grade level of the child or the program that the child participates in. Once registration has been processed, fees will be assigned and made available to pay from the Parent Portal within Infinite Campus. New families will be emailed directions to set up their new Parent Portal account where they will be able to pay the fees when registration is complete. 

  • To ensure your child's proper placement on next year's class schedule please return all medical/physical forms and registration documents to the District Administration Center by August 12, 2024 (Does not apply to NEW students). Per Board Policy 7:30, students will be assigned to schools based on available space for any registrations received after August 14, 2024.

  If your child is interested in participating in the district's Band program a $55 (see fee above) Band Fee will be added to your child's registration fees. Please note that the band fee will not be immediately available to pay upon submission of your registration. Your child's school must first process and approve the registration then the band fee will be assigned.

• School districts are mandated by law to identify children ages birth-21 who may be in need of special educational services. District 26 asks all parents with children between the ages of birth - 4 years old to complete a preschool census questionnaire. The questionnaires are reviewed by District 26 professional staff to determine students who may be eligible for a screening. Children, age's birth through two years of age, will be referred to the Child and Family Connections Agency for screening. Screenings for children ages 3-4 are typically held the first Friday of the month and are conducted by Cary District 26 staff. Preschool screening provides an opportunity for staff to look at a child's development and to determine if there is a need for in-depth evaluation.

The focus of the District’s Blended Preschool Program is to provide a rich experiential learning environment that fosters skill development for preschool-aged children in the following areas: concepts/literacy, language, motor, and social skills. Our curriculum follows the State’s Early Learning Standards and is appropriate to children’s age and developmental status.

Our staff consists of a teacher who is certified in special education and early childhood education and two certified paraprofessionals. Also available to the program are a speech/language pathologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, social worker, nurse, and school psychologist.

Offered are a.m. and p.m. sessions. Each session is approximately 2.5 hours long. Children can attend a three or four-day-a-week program   Monthly tuition for the three-day program (Monday-Wednesday) is $165.00 and the four-day program (Monday-Thursday) is $190.00. Tuition is due on the first of every month and can be paid online through the District’s website. Each class is comprised of students from the District’s Early Childhood Special Education Program and typically developing peers who reside in the community. The preschool program is housed at Oak Knoll Early Childhood Center, which is located at 409 N. First Street. All students upon entering the Blended Preschool Program will be required to have a Physical exam and show proof of required immunizations. This is in accordance with the State of Illinois requirements.

Applications for the 2024-2025 school year will be available between July 1 - October 15, 2024

Families seeking financial assistance with student registration fees will be required to complete an application for fee waiver with supporting documentation of family size and income. Supporting documentation will be required at the time of application. The application for fee waiver will not affect the process that is currently in place for students qualifying for free or reduced meals through the National School Lunch Program. After July 1, 2024, you will need to complete a separate Household Eligibility Application for free or reduced meals.
