Welcome to District 26! We are located in McHenry and Lake Counties, in northeastern Illinois, and in the Village of Cary. The District comprises an area of 12.25 square miles with a current enrollment of 2,500 students in early childhood through 8th grade. Cary is a suburban community with many residents traveling via the Metra commuter train line to Chicago and its nearby suburbs. It is a community where children and education come first. The Village boasts of a fine park district, many youth sporting organizations, and close knit families who are involved in their children’s education.Excellence in Education is our motto as we strive for excellence every day. Our mission for the District 26 community is to work together to provide a sound educational foundation that supports and inspires all students to reach their full academic potential. In order to accomplish this mission, a District 26 Strategic Plan has recently been developed by community stakeholders with goals and vision statements in the areas of students, curriculum, instruction, and assessment, culture and climate, finance, working in a learning community, and community, parents, and guardians. This strategic plan guides the decision making in the District and communicates areas of strongest focus and highest priority. We have five of the finest public schools anywhere. Our schools are staffed by experienced, dedicated administrators and enthusiastic, hardworking teachers committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our students. We have facilities that are well maintained to provide a safe, caring environment that is highly conducive to learning. Our office personnel, bus drivers, and educational support staff take great pride in providing services and assistance to our students, parents and community members.Parental support and engagement in the educational process is crucial to the success of educating our students. Building strong home/school partnerships is one of our keys to success. When parents are involved in their children’s education, the children excel. Our Parent-Teacher Organizations are comprised of dedicated and engaged parents that work to provide support, activities, and a community environment at each of our schools. If you haven’t already had the opportunity, I encourage you to take a first–hand look at our schools, programs, and the activities of the Board of Education. Information relating to these can be found here within District 26’s web pages. We are extremely proud of our programs and facilities, but most importantly, we are proud of our students.Thank you for visiting our website!
